Everyone wants to achieve peace in order to have a tranquil life. Peace, in this case, means positive peace, which is the condition that not just stop fighting, but also actively improve the relationships between each others. The obstacles keep us from building positive peace are direct violence, structural violence, and cultural violence. I believe communication and education are the two important elements that are necessary for eliminating all forms of violence. Communication can help solve the short-term conflicts of violence, but the similar conflicts might come back again. For example, a classism communicate with a lower class person can let him know what is their feeling of getting low income and maybe provided financial support, which help he break away from being classism. However, he might become racism for other reasons. Education can be the solution of long-term effects. Using the same example but educate him instead, he still will do the same thing, but he is now clear that any form of discrimination should be avoid, which can reduce the rates of all kinds of violence.
I believe democracy does't directly eliminate direct violence, structural violence, and cultural violence. However, it does help a lot indirectly. Government' policy is an efficient way to eliminate all aspects of violence by supporting the sufferers. What if we have a weak government? It is why democracy is important. Within this system, people can vote for a wise government, which will pass more effective policies to eliminate all the violence and build a peaceful society.
